Job Purpose Technology Services is focused on ensuring current and future investment in technology maximises the opportunities to support the Authority from a technological perspective.

Bringing a new focus to understanding and supporting the business functions will be key in exploiting technology to deliver positive business outcomes.

A critical element of this will be the effective design and delivery of appropriate training to ensure successful business adoption of changing and innovative technologies and services. 

The Assistant IT Trainer works within the training team supporting the design and development of training programmes and the delivery of training related to the introduction of new and changed technology and services to ensure the user community can develop the required level of competency to optimise technology and services in support of business operations.

There may be a requirement for the postholder to travel between the hub sites around Essex which include Harlow, Basildon, Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea.

Expenses can be claimed to cover these journeys.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for contributing to a high performing and capable team that can effectively support the changing training requirement that will result from the delivery of the TS Transformation Programme ensuring that new, innovative and changed services are clearly understood, adopted and utilised to the advantage of ECC Business Operations.
  • Responsible for assisting the capture of new and changing training requirements and supporting the design, development and delivery programmes to ensure effective training to optimise the use of new and changing technologies and ways of working that will enhance the delivery of business operations.
  • Conducting skills/competency assessments after the implementation of training to ensure that training delivery has achieved the required outcomes with acceptable quality and for initiating corrective action if needed.
  • To raise issues that may have an impact on learner effectiveness or effecting user adoption and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Responsible for working with external training providers, as necessary, for the delivery of specialist requirements, such as specific applications training, to ensure training is optimised to support successful adoption with the business environment and for taking on board knowledge transfer to help create a more self-sufficient future training capability.
  • Responsible for the use of defined systems, methods and tools to support the delivery of training enabling a blended approach that can be adapted to meet the needs of the workforce, across all ECC office locations, ensuring a common understanding and development of capability regardless of the training methodology. To contribute to the development of organisational capability by taking ownership of your own learning and development, taking part in activities and responding to feedback on performance.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in experience
  • Experience in a customer service role preferably working within a large local authority or with a service provider
  • Experience of working within effective teams delivering customer service that have been proved successful in meeting complex business needs.
  • Willingness to learn and understand how to work within relevant ICT related standards including ITIL V3, ISO/IEC 38500, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 22301, ISO/IEC 20000, PRINCE2 and MSP.
  • A high standard of written, verbal communication and presentational skills.
  • Good organisation and customer service skills.
  • Evidence of continual professional development to keep pace with technical and business change
  • Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area.

    Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle,  or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
