Here at EDF Renewables, we are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a passion for renewable energy to join our team as a Markets and Investment Analyst. In this role you will demonstrate initiative, excellent problem-solving abilities, and strong analytical thinking skills.

The role will help to inform EDF Renewables’ investment strategy through analysis of market fundamentals, financial valuation and simulation of storage (+ co-location) operation and revenue generation.

The Investment & Financing team enable robust investment decisions for profitable, low carbon growth. Through providing market insight and financial evaluation we inform investment strategy.

What you’ll be doing

You will contribute analysis and insight into M&A, partnerships, auction processes and Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) to support the ambitious growth of EDF Renewables UK & Ireland, covering offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, battery storage and hydrogen investments.

Knowledge and experience in the energy sector is preferred, with a particular focus on the fundamental drivers of power markets and the role of storage within them. You will be able to contribute to the increasing automation and sophistication of our models, whilst communication of results will also be key, so we will look for excellent presentation skills and demonstrated stakeholder management experience.

This role will provide the opportunity to become an expert in a rapidly growing field, and the mixture of analysis and communication will allow you to build a well-rounded set of skills that will enable exciting career development opportunities.


Duties will include:

  • Engaging in project valuation work - collating and challenging assumptions, modelling and delivering reliable financial outputs to support investment decisions, across multiple renewable technologies
  • Preparing valuation analysis and insight and presentations to key stakeholders in the team and project development managers
  • Analysing power markets to understand commercial drivers and strategic opportunities
  • Contribute to the management and delivery of business critical work streams, supporting senior analysts in the presentation of papers to senior management
  • Supporting competitor analysis, including auction analysis and tracking of wider-industry developments.
  • Assisting the M&A and Origination functions within the team
  • What do you need to be great at this role?


    You’ll have an analytical mind and approach to work in addition to the following skills:

  • Experience in coding (this will be applied to automation, modelling and data processing in Python)
  • Understanding and ideally experience of financial modelling (discounted cashflow analysis)
  • Knowledge of energy markets
  • Experience in structuring and manipulating data.
  • Stakeholder management
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills
  • Advanced Excel use
  • Excellent analytical background and ability to communicate insights
  • A curiosity and passion to understand renewables and to be part of a company and team committed to delivering the UK’s net zero objectives
  • An eagerness to learn and develop your skillset, and will progress into adept and trust-worthy modellers
