The Daisy Garland is a family-run, national, registered children's charity working exclusively for children with drug-resistant epilepsy. It was set up in September 2004 in memory of our brave and wonderful daughter Daisy.

Daisy was diagnosed with severe myoclonic epilepsy when she was 5 1/2 months old. For almost 2 years we battled with one anti-convulsant drug after another, each drug took Daisy further away from us and brought with it more seizures and unwanted side-effects.

In January 2000 at the age of 22 months, Daisy started the ketogenic diet - a drug-free treatment, which gradually reduced the severity and frequency of her seizures.

Sadly 3 days after her 6th birthday in April 2004, Daisy died in her sleep from SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy patients).

We set up the charity so that we could try to provide the type of support that was completely unavailable when we had Daisy.

Our aims are:
To raise awareness about childhood epilepsy and SUDEP.
To fund specially trained Daisy Garland Ketogenic Dietitians to work within NHS hospitals countrywide, allowing other children like Daisy to benefit from this drug-free treatment.
To provide positive support for the parents and carers of children diagnosed with drug-resistant epilepsy.
