This remarkable castle, built on the instruction of William the Conqueror, has been the family home of the Watson's for over 450 years. Prior to the Watson’s ownership the Castle was held by the crown. There are very few other homes that have been continuously occupied for nearly 1000 years and within that time been owned by just one family since being relinquished as a royal Castle.

As an early defensive position dating back to Saxon times, Rockingham Castle has the reward of being in a magnificent setting, dominating the local landscape. The sweep of the lush parkland and meadows has replaced the dense forest of the Middle Ages and the years have mellowed the colours of the ironstone, while the sun’s reflection off the limestone gives the Castle a luminous quality as it nestles into the hillside.

For centuries Rockingham Castle has entertained royalty and private guests within its ancient walls. The history and tradition continue today. The beautiful and peaceful grounds of the Castle provide an ideal backdrop for an out of office meeting, seminar or conference in a spectacular setting.
