Northumbrian Fine Foods can trace our heritage back to 1936 with a recipe for Ginger Parkin that Frederick Shaw thought was too good to keep to himself. He set up Shaw’s Biscuits to sell locally across the North East. The next decade saw the outbreak of conflict and the company found its place supporting the Red Cross by sending food parcels to the front line.

A lot has changed in the 87 years since Mr Shaw first set up his bakery business as today we are now the UK’s leading supplier of gluten-free biscuits and cookies, supplying private label customers with an extensive range of products as well as our own Prewett’s Brand and contract manufacturing for several leading Brands. All our great-tasting and quality gluten-free biscuits are baked at our purpose built facility in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.

We are passionate about our products and take time to perfect each unique flavour and texture, using only the best ingredients. Traditional recipes combined with up to date production methods ensure consistent quality and great value.
