Local authority covering the Aldenham, Borehamwood, Bushey, Elstree, Potters Bar, Radlett, Shenley and South Mimms areas and surrounding hamlets.
The authority was formed in 1974 and is just 13 miles from the centre of London.
It owns the famous Elstree Studios, home of TV shows Strictly Come Dancing, Big Brother and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. The studios is also the production site of many music promos, as well as blockbusters films - from Star Wars through to The King's Speech.
