Vice President of Finance


The Vice President of Finance will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the CFO, and will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and operations of Twinkl.

The VP will oversee all aspects of operational finance, including accounting, financial controls, tax and treasury, and demonstrate the ability to lead finance transformation and support international expansion. 


The candidate will have extensive financial leadership experience and a track record of supporting growth and navigating complex financial landscapes.

The candidate will also have a mix of experiences from best-in-class corporate and high-growth or private equity-backed environments, preferably across education, technology, subscription or consumer markets.


Key Responsibilities


  • Overall responsibility for the operational areas of finance, building a best-in-class and scalable finance function to support business growth
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management and other stakeholders to ensure finance is central to strategic decision-making
  • Ownership of the financial control environment, maintaining a disciplined approach to financial management, policies and procedures
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives to streamline and automate processes, improve financial reporting and enhance the overall efficiency of the finance function 
  • Support the selection and implementation of leading technology solutions, including upgrading the existing Finance System
  • Monitor and optimise key financial metrics and KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Development of financial strategies to support international expansion, including localised and centralised finance operations
  • Manage all corporate tax matters and support the development and implementation of Twinkl’s transfer pricing strategy 
  • Manage and optimise Twinkl’s treasury operations, with an initial focus on cash management and foreign currency cash flows
  • Support financial due diligence, valuation and integration processes for strategic acquisitions
  • Present financial information to a broad range of stakeholders including Board members and investors
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors and advisors
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement 

Requirements


  • Qualified Accountant with extensive experience in a senior leadership role
  • Ability to develop and execute long-term financial strategies that align with business goals
  • Excellent leadership skills with a proven track record of building, inspiring and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering operational change, automation and efficiency gains, including evaluating and implementing new financial processes and finance systems
  • Track record of supporting international growth, developing a centralised finance function to drive value while facilitating localised financial compliance and risk management
  • Track record of integrating ESG into financial and business strategies
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations
  • Demonstrated an ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced and evolving environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Ambitious, hands-on and collaborative, passionate about customers and technology and highly motivated by playing a critical role in the ongoing success and growth of the business
