  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered

  • The role involves travel to other sites, a clean driving licence is required 
  • Reporting to the Regional Technical Manager as Site Technical Manager you are responsible for ensuring product safety and legality at several sites leading a technical team of QA Managers, QA Officers and QA Technicians. 

    The role is responsible for developing and managing the sites technical teams to ensure the requirements of the BRCGS Global standard for food safety are implemented and adhered to at all manufacturing / packing / logistics sites covered by this role.

    Leading and managing harmonisation and the implementation of procedures, processes and systems to ensure compliance with food safety, quality and legality. Making decisions, managing change and supporting the development of food safety culture on the sites. 

    The role requires a strong leader and decision maker to lead teams and drive change and best practice, build capabilities, work independently with minimal supervision, be organised and have excellent communication skills, engagement and influential skills to drive standards and improvements. As the role covers several sites the role requires a strong decision-making ability using a risk assessment approach, gathering facts and investigating issues in fast paced sites, the ability to deal with multiple issues and prioritise actions to ensure food safety and legality are not compromised. 

    What you'll do

  • Lead and direct site technical teams to ensure harmonisation and consistency and implementation of Greggs Standard and BRCGS requirements 
  • Support projects and implementation into site systems and ways of working 
  • Lead food safety culture via site teams driving food safety ownership and continuous improvements 
  • Accountable and responsible for making high level food safety decisions and risk assessments on issues to ensure food safety and brand protection 
  • Ensure food safety management systems are implemented effectively on sites and communicated via site teams, communicating changes in process to the Technical Standards Team and Regional Technical Managers 
  • Ensure HACCP and allergen risk assessments are carried out at sites and controls implemented by site teams 
  • Manage direct reports so they are performing in line with their role profile and business requirements 
  • Implement auditing of projects and management systems, driving continuous improvement constantly aiming for best practice standards
  • Lead best practice and harmonisation across all Supply Chain and Logistics sites, ensuring best practice, simplification, consistency in standards and ways of working are followed 
  • Accountable for delivery within budget, always looking for more efficient and cost-effective ways of doing things 
  • Proactively work with the technical team and sites management team 
  • Lead site incidents, product withdrawals and recalls 
  • Support Regional Technical Managers to deliver requirements supporting supply chain growth 
  • Deputise for Regional Technical Manager 
  • About you

    You will fit right into this role if you:

  • A Degree level education in Food Science based subject
  • HACCP level 4 and Food Safety level 4 qualifications 
  • Food Industry experience essential, ideally in a fast-paced supply chain role, minimum 3 years in a similar management role 
  • Practical knowledge and application of current BRCGS Food Standard
  • Internal audit and BRCGS auditing qualification 
  • Are a leader with a proven track record in people management and people development
  • Have a track record of forming and strengthening trusted relationships with business stakeholders
  • Have excellent written & verbal communication skills and the ability to present ideas and opportunities (including using known presentational tools)
  • Strong decision maker 
  • A result focused approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others 
  • Can multi-task and work with multiple priorities at pace, delivering results within tight timescales
