The Individual Are you an experienced financialreporting specialist that has a passion to excel, deliver exceptional qualityand drive growth and change, if so then this role is for you. 

The Role RSM’s audit technical department(NATS) provides technical support to RSM’s audit and financial advisoryservices business lines.

A sub-set of NATS is the financialreporting specialist team. 

Thesespecialists provide support to teams, mostly on technical accounting andreporting matters. 

We are looking for an individual withstrong financial and narrative reporting skills who h as experience of dealing with complex financial reporting matters and reviewing premium or standard listed company annual reports and can:


  • Work independently as well as part of a team
  • Mentor more junior personnel and assist in the development of their technical and communication skills
  • Contribute to the development of the department from a strategic and operational perspective
  • Work under time pressure and to tight reporting deadlines

Responsibilities Key roles andresponsibilities:


  • Technical pre-clearance reviews on annual reports for the firm’s highest risk audit clients
  • To act in the capacity of a financial reporting specialist on the firm’s highest risk audit clients (dependent on skills and specialisms)
  • Provision of technical advice and support on complex accounting and financial reporting matters
  • Lead a sub-team on financial reporting / narrative reporting and other departmental projects
  • Signing out of technical advice of more junior team members
  • Utilising technical skills in developing the firm’s brand
  • Proposing and reviewing internal technical communications, including training material, and published guidance documents
  • Proposing recommendations in response to regulatory change
  • Providing comments and views in response to regulatory consultations

Requirements for the role


  • ACA/ACCA/CA/CAI qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strong financial reporting knowledge and expertise
  • Experience of performing technical reviews of UK premium, Standard and AIM listed entities within a medium-large based firm, ideally at Associate Director level or above
  • Background in external audit would be beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team player
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead teams and projects
