Strategic Payroll Manager

Hybrid/Flexible working - can be flexible on UK location. Some monthly travel to Milton Keynes required.

You will be inspiring and leading the firm’s payroll team ensuring the UK firm’s c5,500 people, GTIL population and ever growing contractor population are paid accurately and on time each month. You will ensure that all payments made are in compliance with all relevant requirements, firm policies, SLAs, regulations and legislation. You will advise on better ways of working, creating a suite of measurable KPIs and a culture of continuous improvement within the team. You will oversee a team of two assistant managers, two executives and a number of payroll assistants. Building relationships with key stakeholders you will help to advise and implement the changes required by the business to create the best employee lifecycle experience.

A look into the role

As a Payroll Manager within Finance, you will:

· Create a strategic plan for development to ensure there are no key person dependencies within the team, supporting the career development of the team you will spot opportunities for them to grow and to be involved with project work at different levels, while maintaining ultimate responsibility for project delivery.

· Create a suite of measurable KPIs and SLAs that will feed into the performance measurement of the team. Work with key stakeholders and ensure timely resolution of escalated or complex issues. Working with the business to deliver the best outcome for exceptions and service delivery challenges. Ensure that risk events are reported upwards in a timely manner.

· Act as the senior engagement point creating strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to create the best employee lifecycle for the firm.

· Create a culture of continuous improvements in service delivery and client experience to create the most efficient and LEAN payroll processes. Working with the Workday team and exploring new solutions with our digital teams to bring new thinking to the way the team works.

· Leading on projects across the employee lifecycle in a pragmatic way, spotting opportunities for different thinking.

· You will be the subject matter expert on payroll related matters, you will have extensive UK payroll knowledge and act as the senior advisor on Payroll related projects and to the Finance Leadership Team.

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as a Payroll Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is to be CIPP qualified, and to be confident managing a large team and delivering on a large payroll. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

· Experience of tools and technology related to payroll, particularly Workday

· Experience of Microsoft office tools

· Excellent stakeholder, people management, problem solving and planning skills

· Exceptional knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, financial regulatory controls, governance and risk management.
