Scope

The SHEQ Director is responsible for the effective management and implementation of the company SHEQ Systems across Ireland and the UK. The successful candidate may be based in either Ire or UK, but will be required to travel to both locations.


Need to Have:

3rd level qualification or relevant IOSH/Safety competence with post graduate qualification in OHS

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role and experience in dealing with HSA & HSE and other external regulatory bodies

Experience in a Utilities Service Provision environment an advantage

Expert in field of health and safety and understanding of best practice in the industry, Ireland & UK


Need to Do:

Leadership

  • Develop the behavioural safety culture within the organisation that results in a safer working environment for all
  • Lead a pro-active SHEQ approach –
  1. Agree priorities and an annual plan for the department.
  2. Provide advice, information, direction, policy and training on SHEQ policy and legislation
  3. Champion ‘Best Practise’ and drive behaviours consistent with company policies through proactive engagement with staff.
  4. Ensure that Staff well-being initiatives are part of the H&S plans.
  5. Complete & gain sign-off for an annual budget for SHEQ Department
  6. Plan to cover at a minimum: Training & the 4 main Safety Risks (Driving, Electricity, Working at Height & Plant)
  • Engage pro-actively with relevant Client representatives.
  • Provide the Input Document for the annual Management Review Meeting and provide appropriate support and feedback as part of management team
  • Analyse and trend H&S data and put in place actions for continuous improvement
  • Management Representative within the SHEQ system.

Systems Management

  • Develop and assure compliance of the company’s H&S, Environmental & Quality Management Systems, covering at a minimum:
  1. Adherence to ISO Management systems - ISO 14001, 45001, 9001 & 27001
  2. An effective Corrective Action process
  3. Evaluation, updating and development of new and existing SHEQ documentation
  4. Adherence to the PMO system for calibration and inspection of all equipment
  5. An appropriate System & Site audit schedule – prioritise, set target rates and monitor adherence

Governance

  • Maintain an effective H&S Governance process – regular reviews, maintain records, close out agreed actions.
  • Coach and develop the team of H&S Officers and Advisors to adequately support all Project Leaders.
  • Analyse all SHEQ data and prepare and communicate trends & reports (Weekly, Monthly & Quarterly)

Training

  • Manage an appropriate, Company-wide Training Program –
  1. Prioritise, budget, monitor adherence, evaluate effectiveness
  2. Align with KTL & Client Values
  3. Comply with Statutory requirements


Need to Be

Expert in H&S and ISO systems and able to distil best practice across the company

Passionate about the need to deliver SHEQ compliance

Able to engage with and influence the key stakeholders of the business

Strong communicator (verbal and written)

Results driven leader with proven ability in processes improvement

Data-driven, decision maker

Willing to travel within Ireland and UK as required

Self-starter who can operate effectively in a dynamic and fast paced organization
