The Group Reporting team is responsible for the delivery of timely, accurate and relevant financial information to our shareholders and owning the preparation of the annual and interim Group results. This role provides key support to the Head of Group Reporting, Group Financial Controller and CFO, acting as a key contact for the business unit finance teams on all accounting, technical and reporting matters. The role is also heavily involved in the Group audit process as well as a variety of Group-wide projects and therefore will have significant external focus with various external advisors.


The Group operates through a Dutch N.V and listed in the Warsaw Stock Exchange. This role will be responsible for supporting the financial accounting and reporting requirements within the Pepco Group and therefore requires a solid technical accounting background. The Group has recently implemented Oracle ERP and FCCS reporting tool and this role will be pivotal to ensure the set-up of strong group reporting processes, alongside improving the group consolidation process for both statutory audit and filing requirements and monthly management purposes to satisfy the shareholder and internal reporting requirements.


Although the key parts of the role will focus on ‘Business as Usual’, there are a number of ongoing projects including implementing an IFRS 16 lease reporting tool, a Group Accounting Policy Manual and a single chart of accounts across the Group, improvements in month end close processes and financial reporting etc. The role will naturally get involved in these ongoing projects but a candidate who is keen and able to take on additional responsibilities can play a leading role in these projects.


Key Responsibilities include:


  • Set the standard for financial reporting quality across the Group.
  • Prepare the annual and half year financial reporting requirements for the Group through completing the consolidation and the relevant financial statement notes.
  • Ensure monthly consolidation adjustments are performed accordingly such as eliminations of intercompany transactions, PURP adjustments and other consolidation adjustments.
  • Support in the improvement of the Group month end close process to ensure monthly results are completed accurately and consistently.
  • Responsibility for preparing key Group level accounting items and judgements (e.g., impairment reviews, adjusting items, segmental information, share schemes.)
  • Responsible for maintaining the Group Accounting Policy Manual and Chart of Accounts to ensure these are regularly updated and communicated to the rest of the Group.
  • Support with technical accounting training for the rest of the Group.
  • Ensure close collaboration and build strong relationships with the Head of Group Reporting, the Group Financial Controller and with the Divisional CFOs/ Financial Controllers and financial reporting teams within the operating companies.
  • Support the Head of Group Reporting and/or lead key cross finance projects across the Group and be a key driver to ensure objectives are met.
  • Supporting the Group with technical accounting advice to support investments and new initiatives.
  • Assist in developing best practice procedures and improvements for both our internal and external financial reporting processes, with a focus on automation and data analytics.
  • Assist with preparation of Audit Committee papers on complex and judgemental finance matters.
  • Support on production and analysis of Group cash flow and balance sheet including key movements and variances, challenging opcos where necessary.
  • Management of the external audit process in collaboration with the Head of Group Reporting, leading co-ordination of audit work across the group and being a day-to-day lead and key contact with the Group external auditors.
  • Supporting the Annual Report and Interim process, in particular, production of the Financial Review in the results announcements and the Financial Statements section of the Annual Report.
  • Supporting Investor Relations and Group FP&A in the preparation of Prelim and Interim Results Presentations, signing off on the financials presented.
  • Preparing the quarterly Group entity reporting to the Dutch National Bank (“DNB”).


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified ACA (or equivalent) accountant
  • Strong technical understanding of IFRS
  • A strong understanding of the requirements of operating in a public company, familiar with the latest developments in relevant accounting standards and Corporate Reporting, including ESG reporting.
  • Knowledge / experience of working with financial systems (preferably Oracle FCCS)
  • Technical in nature (e.g. background as auditor). Big-4 not a pre-requisite.
  • Retail experience preferred but not essential.
