Role: Facilities Manager

We are seeking a skilled Estates/Facilities Manager with extensive experience in commercial FM hard services, operations. In this role, you will oversee both direct labour and subcontractors to ensure efficient service delivery in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing and leading teams and must have strong communication and stakeholder management skills, along with certification in health and safety and knowledge of CDM regulations. Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office is required, along with a minimum of C&G Level 3 in mechanical, electrical, building services, or air conditioning/refrigeration.

What you will do:

As the deputy for the Head of Estates , you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Estates function, ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance needs are met while upholding compliance with statutory regulations and requirements. You will lead a team of supervisors and schedulers and ensure accurate reporting to support regular meetings and maintain necessary records.You will be responsible for meeting all contractual obligations, key performance indicators, and service level agreements to prevent any penalties. In addition, You will work closely with the Governance & Assurance Team to facilitate internal and external audits, promoting the continuous improvement of our services. By staying updated on technical competencies and strive to deliver a high standard of service in line with the Skilled Person Matrix.

What we are looking for:

As a visible, adaptable, and values-based leader, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the aims and objectives of Mitie and the MoD Corsham contract , while supporting your team in developing and driving forward improvements in our Estates. With significant experience in estates management and a proven track record of guiding and motivating teams, fostering collaboration, innovation, and high performance, you will be able to influence and develop the Estates Strategy and provide expert advice at a strategic level. Your qualifications in relevant fields and membership of professional bodies, along with up-to-date knowledge of legislation, compliance, best practices, and research, will enable you to effectively manage projects and budgets, oversee multiple technical/construction projects, and engage with contractors and suppliers. Your excellent communication and engagement skills, coupled with your ability to draft and present clear reports and business cases, will be instrumental in your success in this role. Additionally, your IT literacy and ability to identify and specify technological solutions to improve efficiency will be valuable assets. Furthermore, with a current driving license or the ability to arrange suitable transport, you will be able to travel to various work locations as needed.


  • Must have managed large direct report teams (this is a must)
  • Must have hard services FM experience
  • Must come from a technical background
  • Must have fantastic client relationship experience
  • The ability to achieve full SC clearance is essential for this position
