As we continue to grow, we seek to expand our leadership team by bringing on an R&D Project Manager with the potential to advance into the COO role. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage R&D projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet project objectives, timelines, budgets, and quality.
  • Develop and implement project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, coordinating efforts and resolving conflicts to ensure project success.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and roadblocks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including clients, researchers, board members, and computational physicists.
  • Identify new opportunities within the organisation’s scope, pursue and develop opportunities into projects; allocate resources, budget, and define success and timelines. 

Required skills and qualifications:

  • PhD degree in engineering, science, or a related field
  • Proven experience in R&D project management, preferably in physical simulation software development  
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with the majority of communication via teleconference

Desired skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of plasma physics, especially low-temperature plasma physics
  • Familiarity with HPC (High-Performance Computing) environments and parallel programming techniques
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git, bitbucket) 
  • Understanding of code validation techniques
