API Product Owner


Location: London/Nottingham/Hybrid: 4 day week plus regular home working is common (1-2 days in the office) but we do love to see each other in person to collaborate!


Role Purpose:


This newly created role will act as a product owner for our range of APIs, which help to deliver some of the most challenging and innovative projects through data and insight.


What you will do:


  • Be a champion of the ElectraLink dataset and an expert in the use of data in digital journeys to improve end customer experiences.
  • Understand the DTS dataset and how this supports the energy market.
  • Create and maintain a prioritized backlog of features and enhancements for our API products. Work closely with industry experts, customers, and data team to ensure timely delivery of APIs which support the energy transition.
  • Engage with customers and gather feedback to understand their needs and pain points. Use customer insights to inform product decisions and prioritize feature development.
  • Act as a subject matter expert with customers to drive the development and adoption of our API products in supporting the energy transition.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies related to APIs. Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities for product innovation and differentiation.
  • Lead product launches and develop go-to-market strategies to drive adoption of our API products. Work closely with marketing and sales teams to develop messaging, collateral, and promotional activities.
  • Define key metrics and KPIs to measure the success of our API products. Monitor product performance and user feedback and use insights to drive continuous improvement and optimization.

What you'll need:


• Experience of working with UK electricity energy dataflows.


• Proven experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, with a focus on API products.


• A deep understanding of API technologies, RESTful architecture, and web services.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate customer needs into product requirements.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.


• Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as JIRA.


• Familiarity with API documentation tools and platforms (e.

g.

, Swagger, Postman).


• Prior experience in software development (desired but not a must).
