Laboratory Operations Manager (Food Chemistry Testing)

Campden BRI offer commercial analytical lab chemistry testing for food and drink, including: nutritional and health, microscopy, biochemistry, allergens, chromatography, packaging, cereals and ingredients, and wines and spirits. You would be supporting the day-to-day operations of a high volume commercial food & drink testing laboratory!


  • Adherence to and improvement of the Quality Management System and Health & Safety policies
  • Maintain excellent service levels for clients/members
  • Support the Team Managers in efficient resource allocation
  • Manage the equipment and assets of the department
  • Manage costs and support the department in meeting financial metrics


Laboratory Operations Manager role

  • Co-ordinating Team Managers and overseeing daily laboratory operations.
  • Improving existing workflows and support in the LIMS upgrade.
  • Leading, developing and supporting Team Managers.
  • Leading and championing quality and health & safety.
  • Reviewing and improving operational efficiency and best practice.
  • Reviewing, highlighting, and supporting business case development on laboratory investment needs.


Laboratory Operations Manager experience required

  • Experience of leading laboratory operations in a large volume commercial laboratory including experience in managing team supervisors.
  • Wide experience of leading people, creating clarity, coaching, and driving performance standards.
  • Understanding of the analytical and quality requirements for the analysis of contaminants and nutritional components.
  • Demonstrable experience in the application of Continuous Improvement Principles to deliver operational improvements.
  • Demonstrable experience in change management.
  • Proven competence in managing timely and cost-effective delivery of technical services.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of the needs of the food and related industries would be desirable.
  • Experienced in the implementation of quality/business management systems and the requirements of the ISO 17025 standard.
  • Science-related degree (Chemistry degree would be an advantage).
