eskandar are looking for a Junior Garment Technologist to join our current design / product development team.

You will be reporting to our Senior Garment Tech / Technical lead and liaising closely with cross-functional teams within the business.


We are looking for someone with previous experience working across Womenswear / soft tailoring that has worked within a workroom / studio / atelier for a minimum of 3 years.

Our Senior Garment Technician (Technical Lead) works very closely with our Designer / Founder and internal departments to develop/ produce the sample collections and follow the collection from design through to final production.

We are looking for someone to support the role in all areas across development, production and final quality control.


The ideal candidate must have a strong technical understanding of garment construction, fitting and pattern cutting, with excellent attention to detail.

To help elevate the quality and fit of the products and ensure all products are aligned with the brands high standards.

Communication and strong organizational skills are a must, as you will be liaising with various teams within the business as well as external factories.


Responsibilities:


  • Assisting with quality checks and measuring of samples against the Tech Pack upon receipt from suppliers. Check samples against the CAD to sense check styling and labelling.
  • Update Tech Packs in accordance with comments made during the fit session, liaise with the relevant teams to establish next steps. Ensure accurate comments are communicated to suppliers to ensure the next sample is as expected.
  • Collaborate with our Production Assistant to chase outstanding samples from suppliers to ensure they arrive and are fitted in accordance with the critical path.
  • Conduct quality control checks at our warehouse.
  • Review our product returns data across men’s and women’s products when the return levels are higher than normal. Work closely with the Technical Lead and Customer service team to establish root cause to help drive improvements.
  • Work with the Technical Lead and the wider team on projects involving sizing and block reviews across all categories.
  • Review and assess garment and fabric test reports.

Desired Skills


  • 3 years in a similar role, some knowledge of Tailoring would be desirable
  • Experience in updating and managing Tech Packs / Production Packs
  • A thorough understanding of grading and grade rules
  • Knowledge of garment fitting and fitting issues is essential.
  • Experience of working directly with supplier’s and factories, plus understanding the manufacturing process.
  • A total understanding of garment construction, fabric and garment testing.
  • Commercially minded.
  • Strong time-management skills, able to prioritize tasks.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office including Teams and Adobe pakages


Schedule :


  • Monday to Friday

· Work Location: In person


· Preparation/ measure and quality check of all samples before approval meetings – showroom, pre-production and reference samples


· Collaborate with other teams to ensure correct management of samples


· Assist with creating/ preparing sample and production tech packs


· Prepare pre-production packages (BOM management)


· Liaise with factories regarding spec requirements and PPS approvals


· Writing up comments, providing admin support


· Understanding status reports and updating the critical path system


· Conduct quality control checks at our warehouse (close to Head Office)


· Work with Production Assistant to make sure correct fabrics / trims are always available


· Day to day general administrative duties, filling in for Senior Tech in their absence, organising deliveries along with other general admin required for the role



The Candidate



- A degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Textiles or similar with a genuine interest in garment construction.


- A minimum of 1-3 years experience in retail or supplier environment, preferably who has a luxury supplier background


- A understanding of pattern cutting and garment manufacture


- Solid experience using Microsoft Office and Excel and Adobe packages


- Good communication skills, using own initiative and be self driven.


- Organisational skills, accuracy skills and be innovative with a proactive approach to problem solving
