Jackson Hogg are exclusively supporting a specialist construction business in the Newcastle Upon Tyne area with the appointment of a HSE Advisor, reporting directly into the HSE Director.This role requires travel across the UK including overnight stays when required.HSE Advisor Responsibilities * Being the responsible point of contact for all HS&E related issues * Driving a behavioural approach to HS&E management and culture on sites * Ensuring that the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental policies are implemented consistently across the organisation * Undertaking regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance to policies and procedures, keeping records of inspection findings and producing reports with a focus on identifying and implementing improvements, reporting on best practice and promoting a right first time mentality * Investigating or assisting others investigating the circumstances and causes of accidents and incidents, and implementing corrective and preventative actions * Advising on a range of specialist areas (e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases) * Assisting management in authorising and implementing HS&E systems, procedures and Safe Systems of Work to meet specific requirements * Taking action to mitigate the impact and likelihood of HS&E risks * Ownership for the capture, collation and reporting of HS&E related KPI’s * Produce ad hoc, HS&E reporting * Undertake induction of new employees into the company systems and procedures * Undertake training of staff and suppliers on company best practiceHSE Advisor Requirements * Proven experience and understanding of HS&E within the construction sector working for principal contractors; experience specifically working within M&E would be advantageous * Hold a recognised Health & Safety Management Qualification * NEBOSH certificate and ideally an Environmental Management qualification * Graduate IOSH status or evidence of working towards this * A recognised Level 3 Training qualification * First Aid at Work (3 day) qualified * Experience undertaking accident and incident investigations and producing reports * Additional qualifications in Temporary Works Co-ordination and Fit2Fit Face Fit Testing would be an advantage * Strong communicator with proven experience of building constructive relationships with budget-holders and senior management. * Experience of construction projects, MMC and offsite manufacturing is desirable
