The Role


Navartis are exclusively working with one of the biggest brands in the rail sector to recruit a Head Of Control into their operations function based out of Ferrybridge.


This role is an exciting opening for a highly skilled individual who is passionate about the rail sector to support, lead and direct staff at various levels towards a safe and effective environment that will adhere to the company’s regarded status.



Key responsibilities include:


  • Ensure robust safety processes are in place – particularly relating to emergency procedures for major incident/accident management and other rules which are relevant
  • Management of day to day operations control, adhering to railway group standards and in line with safety certifications within the company
  • Reviewing statutory reporting, making sure this is completed to its fullest and making sure all communications fall within operational rules
  • Support the control team in the management of operational incidents, cancellations and other anomalies
  • Act within the best interests of the organisation – representing key interests to external stakeholders and managing various functions internally such as supporting HR, attending training and undertaking additional duties where needed

The Ideal Candidate:


  • Experience of railway operations and procedures
  • Geographical knowledge of the UK rail network
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) to be applied to internal and external parties
  • Knowledge of train planning and locomotive/wagon maintenance cycles would be beneficial
  • Dedicated work approach – ability to work flexibly to achieve goals, someone who is able to maintain trust and awareness to customers requirements
