Role purpose

  • Responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) across the Travelex business
  • To develop, communicate and maintain OSH policy, arrangements and associated procedures / best practice in line with country legislation globally
  • To consult and collaborate with mangers and operational teams to establish and maintain a positive H&S culture and continual improvement within their areas of responsibility
  • Provision of Subject Matter Expertise to ensure that the business maintains a safe working environment for our people, customers and visitors


Key accountabilities


Health and Safety Objectives

  • Production of concise and accurate H&S risk assessments, reports and recommendations in line with the programme agreed with the Group Risk Director
  • Maintain and update H&S policy, procedures and training material
  • Ensure all regulatory reporting is completed to time /accuracy, e.g. RIDDOR
  • Monitor and evaluate new or changing H&S legislation and its potential impact on the business – provide advice / guidance to the business in relation to this
  • Ensure that protections in place for our travelling business community are communicated and appropriate to the needs of the business
  • Undertake H&S related incident investigations and provide assistance to Travelex Group Insurance, Insurers and their legal teams in the event of legal/civil actions to ensure that best outcomes for the business are achieved
  • Maintain the Occupational Safety and Health area on the Lounge and ensure that the contents are relevant and informative

Relationship management

  • Develop sound professional working relationships with Operations colleagues, business staff and management globally, working with HR and C&R teams in country
  • Provide coaching and SME support to front line teams and other business support functions where a need is identified
  • Build strong relationships with the central risk team and peers to ensure relevant information is communicated and shared in a timely manner


Management information

  • Produce accurate, timely and relevant H&S risk MI for:
  • Group Risk Director
  • Chief Risk and Compliance Officer
  • Travelex Risk Committees
  • Travelex Country boards


Communication

  • Responsible for pro-active and regular communication of H&S related information with other areas of Compliance & Risk and to the business stakeholders, e.g. new or changing H&S legislation
  • Be supportive and encourage support for “people initiatives” e.g. Your Voice, DE&I
  • Be proactive in the provision of feedback and the delivery of ideas to develop and improve solutions relating to Travelex C&R function and key business initiatives
  • Lead and participate proactively as a member of the Group Risk team and C&R function


Team management

  • The role has no direct reports, however liaises with in country C&R and HR teams


General

  • Undertakes any necessary training associated with the duties of the post and participates in training and development as required
  • Complies with all Company Health and Safety policies and legislation in the performance of their duties and responsibilities
  • Maintains confidentiality and observes data protection and privacy policies and guidelines
  • Manage expenses in accordance with Company Expense Policy
  • Carries out any other reasonable duties commensurate with their capability


Experience and personal qualities


  • Professionally qualified, e.g. NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Demonstrable experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of H&S policy and framework across a multi-faceted business
  • Demonstrable investigative and claims management experience
  • Excellent report writing and drafting ability, able to adapt styles to the target audience
  • High level of discretion and able to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • Experience of carrying out H&S site and fire risk assessments
  • Commercial acumen able to balance risks with a business perspective
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel etc.
