Finance Manager

We're currently recruiting for a Record to Report (RTR) Finance Manager to join the FSSC. This role reports directly to the Head of Department, with a primary focus on delivering high quality financial and management reporting, ensuring the finance function operates in a robust control environment, across areas of Financial Accounting, Financial Systems and Master Data. The role will be responsible for 6 direct reports.

 

Location : Salford, Manchester with agile working available

Contract : Permanent and full-time

 

Responsibilities

 

As a Finance Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

 

  • Support day-to-day provision of general accounting services to meet business needs
  • Preparing timely completion of management & operational reports, using strong business knowledge and judgement and providing high level commentary.
  • Lead the accurate and timely preparation of FSSC management accounts, providing meaningful commentary for informed decision-making by senior management
  • Driving standardisation, continuous improvements and efficiency of process and controls
  • Operating a robust control environment
  • Day-to-day operations of the Finance Systems and Finance Master Data team
  • Delivering functional projects to drive efficiency and effectiveness
  • Coordinate FSSC element of annual Kier Group audit process, liaising with auditors and stakeholders to ensure timely completion and compliance
  • Development and maintenance of policies and procedures
  • Troubleshoot daily operational issues and work closely with our stakeholders
  • Direct line management of 2 Senior Finance Assistants and 4 Finance Assistants
  • Oversee induction, training, professional development, and appraisal of finance staff, ensuring effective deployment within the team.
  • Managing escalations and deputising for Head of RTR Department.

 

What are we looking for?

 

This role of Finance Manager is great for you if you have:

 

  • Proven background in management of general accounting team and experience of delivering process improvement agenda.
  • Degree, either qualified accountant or qualified by experience with experience in an operational finance role with exposure to issues of similar complexity.
  • Ability to develop, motivate and lead a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Strong knowledge of current regulations including IFRS / UK GAAP / Companies Acts etc.
  • Strong knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (particularly MS Excel)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with presentation experience
  • In-depth knowledge of ERP software (Oracle in particular)
