Hours: 24 hours per week

Salary: up to £24K (Full time Equivalent)

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our historic cathedral, associated church hall and surrounding allotments. This role is pivotal in ensuring the preservation and smooth functioning of this important community landmark.

Key Responsibilities:

Security and Accessibility:

  • Serve as the official key holder for the cathedral and hall.
  • Maintain up-to-date contact details with local law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Manage all keys and understand the functionality of switches for lighting, heating and the organ within the cathedral and hall.

Facilities Management:

  • Responsible for opening and closing the cathedral churchyard gates daily.
  • Perform daily checks of the cathedral and hall both internally and externally to ensure security and readiness for use.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of the cathedral and hall, ensuring all areas are tidy and well-maintained.

Communication and Coordination:

  • With development officer, update and inform all hall users and undertakers of contact and payment details.
  • Handle the booking procedures for events and regular activities in the hall.
  • With development officer, act as the point of contact for information regarding upcoming events, regular bookings, and maintenance schedules.

Maintenance and Compliance:

  • Coordinate the maintenance of the cathedral and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, particularly regarding staging and public access.
  • Manage and uphold rights of way in the surrounding areas, ensuring clear and safe access for all.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Proven experience in facilities management or a similar role.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance procedures and a willingness to perform various cleaning and repair tasks.
  • High level of responsibility and attention to detail.
