Handley James Chemical is partnered with a global refrigerant gas business, one of the biggest in Europe, to source an experienced SHEQ Manager to join their team in Hinkley. The focus of the role is to ensure safe, effective and efficient operational compliance of the site(s) to the identified quality & environmental standards and UK health and safety legislative requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Be the subject matter expert for Quality Assurance, Health & Safety and Environmental matters.
  • Maintain sites’ accreditation to test and inspect cylinders and other vessels containing compressed gasses as required.
  • Develop and maintain an ISO 9001:2015 accredited Quality Management System for the business.
  • Manage and enhance the group Health & Safety activities and compliance to UK legislation, adopting best in class practices throughout the business, culminating in an established Safety Management System entwined within the operating ethos of the group.
  • Manage the Quality Control activities on site, providing support and guidance to the Laboratory team as required.
  • Lead and develop the team (3 direct reports and 3 indirect reports) ensuring a hands-on approach to support, mentoring and guidance.


Educational / Experience Requirements

  • Minimum NEBOSH Certificate and proven experience in managing health and safety, ideally within a chemical, gases or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Ideally NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 or equivalent Quality Management System
  • Experience of developing and embedding a Quality Management System within an organisation
  • Good Communicator
  • Good Analytical Skills
  • Good Influencing Skills
  • Able to work under own initiative
  • Excellent prioritisation skills, able to work on several key projects at once.


This role will suit an existing Health and Safety professional, one who is looking to redefine and build upon the existing team and processes, someone who truly believes that H&S is priority number one and is active and visible across the site.


In return our client is offering a salary of c£50,000 - £60,000pa negotiable depending on experience, bonus and benefits.
