Located in London at the heart of the global music industry the Institute for Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) has been developing and delivering contemporary music education for over 30 years – longer than any other music school in the UK.

As the Careers Manager, you will have strategic and operational oversight of our Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) provision and ensuring the institution maintains its excellent Graduate Outcomes. You will be responsible for creating and implementing plans for the development of career opportunities, work-based learning, placements, and the enhancement of employability prospects for all students and alumni. The role has responsibility for the leadership of all CEIAG activity including student enhancement activities, employer partnership development, alumni engagement, widening participation activities, and delivery of careers & employability education, advice and guidance.

The Careers Manager is a member of the College Management Team, liaising with all relevant departments and working closely with academic colleagues in the development of careers and industry focussed programmes and curriculum.

Candidates should have:

  • Proven experience of working in a role involving careers education in a higher or further education setting
  • Knowledge of the creative industries, the relevant models of employment, and portfolio careers
  • · Expert knowledge of the regulatory environment and metrics relating to employability, progression and Graduate Outcomes

  • Sound understanding of the graduate and post-graduate labour market in the UK and internationally, and implications for graduate recruitment
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and support team members, including by providing feedback, planning and prioritising workloads, and enabling professional development
  • Proven experience of proactively developing services and/or processes to improve the design and delivery of careers education activities, particularly from a user’s perspective.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, particularly in relation to working with students, employers and senior colleagues.
