Buying Assistant Opportunity

Part of our Purchasing team, reporting in to the Buyer

International House site, based in Salford (hybrid working model, 3 days per week in office)

We are the largest independent pharmaceutical wholesaler in the UK with a fast growing international network supplying medicines to meet patient needs and providing a route to market for manufacturers. We are fully managed and regulatory compliant, sourcing imported medicines for specific patient needs. The company is experiencing growth at the moment, providing a much needed healthcare service.  

 Role Overview

The Buying Assistant role combines product research along with providing support to the unlicenced purchasing team. The Buying Assistant is responsible for managing all queries from internal and external customers in relation to identifying sources of medicines globally. The Buying Assistant will take ownership of new enquiries and will be responsible for presenting back all options to these customers. In addition, the role will support the wider team with a variety of functions ranging from regulatory compliance to data management.

 Duties & Responsibilities

Research :

  • Manage all product enquiries from internal and external customers in relation to product availability for allocated customers;
  • Using databases, national websites and accumulated data, research each product enquiry to identify which countries a product is available in, taking into consideration requested brands as well as viable alternatives;
  • Liaise with the buyers to obtain pricing and availability information on products from initial query;
  • Collate all responses and respond to query originator;
  • Manage and maintain databases and spreadsheets in relation to live and historic queries;
  • Own all enquiries from start to finish for designated customers

Procurement Support

  • Carrying out regulatory procedures in relation to importing unlicensed medicinal products;
  • Responsible for ensuring the Import Approval database is maintained;
  • Liaising with the internal stakeholders to ensure MHRA compliance;
  • Analyse, review and input data as required by the wider team;
  • Provide support on a variety of projects that assist the department on an ad-hoc basis;
  • Maintenance of supplier and product data in company systems and databases;
  • Adhere to GMP/GDP regulations.
