CDM Recruitment are delighted to announce they have an opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join a multi-disciplinary consultancy offering varied and engaging work for high-profile public and private sector clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed inspections of existing buildings to assess their condition, identify defects, and ensure compliance with building regulations.
- Advise clients and stakeholders on building design, planning, and regulatory compliance prior to construction.
- Assist in developing and reviewing building plans and specifications to ensure they meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Oversee construction and refurbishment projects, ensuring they adhere to approved plans and quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks related to health and safety, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.
- Preserve historical or heritage buildings through condition assessments and appropriate restoration recommendations.
- Produce detailed reports, documentation, and records of inspections, findings, recommendations, and project progress.
- Collaborate with a professional team to deliver cost-effective and high-quality solutions to clients.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
- Full membership with The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, MCIOB, or a similar professional body (preferred but not required).
- Excellent attention to detail and a thorough understanding of building pathology for defect diagnosis.
- Competence in conducting building surveys and preparing comprehensive reports and Schedules of Condition.
- Experience as a Party Wall Surveyor, including issuing notices, conducting inspections, and agreeing on awards.
- Proficiency in managing planning, building regulation, and listed building applications.
- Ability to create schedules of work and specifications using NBS software.
- Strong project coordination skills, working effectively with Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, and CDM Advisors.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Proficient in IT, including Word and Excel. Experience with AutoCAD is essential; knowledge of Revit is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including CDM 2015.
- Possession of a full UK driving licence and the ability to travel as needed.
