About the role


The Commercial Insurance Team are instructed by their insurer clients predominantly to pursue subrogated property damage recovery claims.

The team work to recover the insurers' outlay where damage has been caused to their customer's property, including both commercial and domestic premises; as well as handling and increasing number of defender instructions.


As Associate / Senior Associate, you will be expected to handle your own caseload and have responsibility for producing optimal outcomes for our insurers, along with supporting business development activities to help drive the firm.

As well as managing client expectationsto a high level of service delivery, while acting as a role model to coach and develop more junior team members.


You will be supported by our wider team which is also represented across Manchester and Bristol, and will have access to our blue chip client list, including many of the top 10 household and commercial insurers.


Responsibilities:


  • To action all cases in line with department/client service standards and protocols, ensuring they are progressed to a satisfactory and speedy settlement
  • Use of the Case Management system and use of standard documentation wherever appropriate
  • Appear in both Edinburgh and Glasgow Sheriff Court for oral hearings
  • To deal with technical aspects of the case
  • Ensure that financial targets are met

About you


  • Around 4-6 years PQE
  • The ability to demonstrate technical and commercial expertise in property damage recovery claims
  • A strong interest in property recovery cases
  • Have a proven track record of delivering results within strict deadlines and time frames
  • The ability to communicate and manage difficult conversations with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be Scottish qualified
