Hutcheon Mearns is delighted to be recruiting a Accounts Assistant for a charity based in Edinburgh City Centre. The organisation is a well-known Scottish brand that has recently embarked on a new 5-year business strategy and is seeking a talent finance professional to support it to meet key objectives. The role is offering up to £25,000 per annum + additional benefits with a 32.5 hour working week.

The Opportunity 

This position will report directly to the Finance Manager and will assume full responsibility for the Accounts Receivable function while assisting with the Accounts Payable function. The successful candidate will be accountable for driving positive cash flow within the business. This role offers excellent flexible work arrangements, promoting a healthy work-life balance. Duties will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Hands on with reducing outstanding debt
  • Credit checking new accounts
  • Setting credit limits for approval
  • Weekly bank reconciliations
  • Processing staff expenses
  • Chasing debt via phone or email
  • Managing any queries
  • Sending out invoices or statements
  • Ad-hoc duties as required
  • Background and Experience

    To be considered for the role, you will:

  • Experience in working in both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Proven history of reducing age-debt
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including vLookups and Pivot Tables
  • Previous experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, Quickbooks, etc.
